"When the data and the anecdotes disagree, the anecdotes are usually right"

Bezos basically says when your data looks good but customers are still complaining, trust the complaints - you're probably measuring the wrong thing. Like when Amazon thought their call wait times were under a minute but Bezos called during a meeting and waited 10+ minutes, proving their metrics were totally off.
